'It's not techno. It's not dubstep. It's not breakcore. It's not jungle. It's not ambient. It's not chill out. It's not glitch. It's not drone. What is it? Epic bass!'
Due to our excitement it has been hard to keep this under wraps, but we are proud to now be able to announce our next and the first London party for undoubtedly one of, if not the most, on point labels of late - Modeselektor's 50Weapons. On April 13th we will be taking over both rooms of Elephant and Castle's Funktion One powered Corsica studios. We are not always a fan of label nights - they can often feel a bit shallow and hastily thrown together, with the end result being more of a branding exercise for both parties rather than anything coherent. Let us assure you that this will not be the case and that almost every decision from venue to artwork has been made in conjunction with the label.
The party will come shortly after the much-anticipated release of Addison Groove's debut album Transistor Rhythm and Addison will be performing tracks from the album live with an 808 alongside other material new and old. We will also be giving away 5 copies of the album along with 5 pairs of tickets to this event on our Facebook page here: http://on.fb.me/50WeaponsLDNComp
Flying over especially from Berlin is the enigma that is René Pawlowitz', playing a set which will explore both his dancefloor orientated EQD alias as well as his more experimental leanings under Shed. We should also mention he will release his third album on the label in July. Listen to his podcast for Wax Treatment here for some idea of what to expect: http://bit.ly/wyB04a
Londoners and residents Dark Sky join the bill after the hugely successful release of their Radius ep last July on 50Weapons. Stream Zoom from their new Black Rainbows ep here: http://bit.ly/wMnGLo
Also flying in from their new home of Berlin will be Wales' Benjamin Damage and Doc Daneeka. They released their debut album 'They Live!' in January which combined elegant-hypnotic-almost-pop songs with club bass heavy tracks in a surprisingly coherent manner. Watch the video for Halo here: http://bit.ly/ycWEsK
All sets will be 120+ minutes (apart from the live set) and some artists may even be playing more than once.
