Corsica Studios

What's on Monday 20th January

  • Synergy

    • Ales
      Magnet Thatcher

    hello all!!!

to bring the new year, we return to Corsica Studios following 2 sold-out shows last term. This is our first Synergy of the decade and we promise it will be a special one! We will be presenting an inaugural live A/V performance by VJ artist Rikuo to provide a new and unique show never before seen at our Synergy events.

Our first DJ of the night is Ales who will be making his EMS debut. Ales is in the business of playing leftfield, under-the-radar techno. He cut his teeth running a Glasgow-based clubnight/podcast Fragile Constructions. He has refined his skills by playing for prominent collectives in his native Czech Republic and Scotland. You are definitely in for a treat if you enjoy well-timed curveballs, drum headfuckery or sets that span an array of genres and tempos.

Following Ales up will be Magnet Thatcher. Locked and loaded after a wasted youth spent on the Leeds house party scene, Magnet Thatcher finds his time split between handling split magnets in Japan and playing tribal sci-fi techno back here in old blighty. Cosmic jingles to get you over your Blue Monday jangles, expect uptempo temporal tunes with a bit of disco thrown in on the side to take the edge off.

KCL Alumnus Itten will also be joining us for the very first time. He will be serving up a delicious blend of breaks and melodic-but-not-too-melodic techno to soothe the heart and soul.

Pairing up with our live visual artist, Rikuo is the EMS bossman himself, Sentido, who is hot off his Ministry of Sound debut last month supporting Malaa and Habstrakt. He will be bringing back the bass house and drill vibes that we all experienced at the opening party. Expect fast-paced mixing, growling basslines and maybe some of his own productions too…

Closing the night will be our very own Head of Events. Axiom is a drum and bass DJ whose fast paced mixing and dancefloor driven style will provide the energy until the very end. Expect a unique blend of old and new covering a variety of sub genres with some unique doubles.
