Room 2: Behind The Lights
Corsica Studios is just one of those places: it’s special. It’s not just special to us after hosting a number of memorable events in the multi-arch space, but also to the city of London, where Corsica stands out as a beacon for stellar bookings, great events, awesome staff and, of course, a great sound system. It’s like our family home, and we believe there’s no better place to celebrate a birthday than with those who know you best. As such, we’re returning back to intimacy to celebrate 3 years of Avant Garde.
It’s been an incredible three years for us, with us balancing some of the biggest names in electronica with as many up-and-coming talents as we can. We’ve been repeatedly asked to re-visit those intimate parties that made us the movement we are today…and we hope the musical leaders employed to help us celebrate will not disappoint.
MARCUS WORGULL is a man who has over the years he developed a keen sense for picking the right record at exactly the right time. Whether he’s playing outdoors in the middle of the day, or a peak-time set in the dead of night, his ability to read the crowd is unquestionable. As a producer, Worgull has released on many of our favoured imprints, including the unstoppable Innervisions and the ever-influential Permanent Vacation. A perfectionist, those releases are steady, but when they come they are received with delight by many of the leading lights in today’s electronic music scene.
The Innervisions specialist is joined by someone we welcome back to the Avant Garde fold after a notable hiatus, a certain DANIEL BORTZ. The musical aficionados amongst you will note the reasons for the booking of the duo; both Bortz and Worgull have been collaborating in the studio and their ‘Dry Mouth’ EP is due out in the coming weeks on Exit Strategy. It’s a banger, as you’d expect, and we look forward to hearing it on the Corsica sound system.
Speaking of Exit Strategy, another artist on the label is one of those up-and-coming names that we are always desperate to get our hands on. His name is LOR, and he is truly on the rise, with his tracks being played all over the continent.
The infamous room 2 is hosted by our friends at Behind The Lights, who recently held their inaugural event at Shelter Club, selling out the venue and inviting AG resident Rabota to play an extended set. More of the same can be expected, with the newly-refurbished space the perfect place for their intimate vibes.
Behind The Lights’ guest resident in Room 2 for this event is Berlin-based Lt.Dan, resident and host of the well-established Donnersducks parties at Ritter Butzke. In Berlin, Dan also played About Blank, Sisyphos, Berghain Kantine, Loftus Hall, Fiese Remiese and more. He has also taken his sound around Europe, to Hamburg, Milano, Vienna, Copenhagen, Warsaw, Prague & Barcelona to name a few.
