Our current season of CDR Sessions continues with one of the most influential figures in UK dance music, L-VIS 1990.

For those new to CDR Sessions, each event includes an in-depth, production focused interview with a guest artist, exploring their career and creative process. The talk is flanked by openCDR, where producers and artists of all levels and abilities have the opportunity to play their own music on some of the best club soundsystems across the UK. All genres and styles welcomed!

L-VIS 1990 is the project of James Connolly, co-founder of the innovative label Night Slugs. Alongside Bok Bok, he helped create a new blueprint for UK dance music, bridging grime, garage and bassline with US club sounds. Night Slugs’ seminal releases, including Lil Silva’s Night Skanker and Jam City’s Classical Curves, reshaped the possibilities of electronic music.

Connolly debuted as L-VIS 1990 in 2008, quickly gaining global recognition through Mad Decent and a string of breakthrough releases that led to his 2011 debut album Neon Dreams. He went on to make his mark in New York’s underground, working with Kelela and Ballroom pioneers like MikeQ, before later exploring his house-focused alias Dance System.

In 2023, Connolly reignited L-VIS 1990 with RESURRECTION DUBS VOL.1, sparking a new wave of heavyweight releases and collaborations. With fresh momentum, he continues to push UK club music forward while shaping the next generation of artists.
